Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake

Recipe Courtesy Letha Sloan (Mimi)

1My daughter Nikki had asked me to make her grandmother's Chocolate Chip Cake. However, she wanted me to use chocolate cake mix instead of the yellow cake mix. So we tried it out and it turned out very chocolately, moist and delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 small box instant chocolate pudding
  • 4 eggs
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Chocolate Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1/4 cup regular cream or milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup of confectioner's sugar

Directions for Cake:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat all ingredients except for chocolate chips together until well combined and smooth.
  3. Fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Pour batter into lightly greased and floured Bundt cake pan.
  5. Bake in 350 degree oven for 50 to 60 minutes. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Allow cake to cool for 10 minutes and then invert and remove from pan.
  7. Frost with Chocolate Glaze if desired.

Directions for Chocolate Glaze:

  1. Melt butter in small saucepan. Add cream and chocolate chips. Stir until completely melted.
  2. Gradually whisk in confectioner's sugar until smooth. Pour over warm cake.
