Superb London Broil
I had clipped this recipe back in 1992 from a coupon insert in the newspaper for Lea & Perrins. Having the clipping in my mass amount of saved recipes, I finally tried it about 19 years later. It is a very good recipe that can be used on London broil or flank steak. You can make kabobs with the marinade also.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 lb London Broil or flank steak
- 1/2 cup of steak sauce such as Lea & Perrins or A1 Steak Sauce
- 1 large onion, sliced thin
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbs lemon juice
- salt and pepper
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in a large resealable bag, adding steak last. Seal and turn to coat.
- Marinate in refrigerator at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Remove from refrigerator and bring to room temperature.
- Remove steak from marinade, reserving marinade. Season steak with salt and pepper.
- Grill steak until a meat thermometer reads 145 degrees for medium rare or 160 for well done. Baste often with marinade, turning once.
- Instead of grilling, you may also broil this for 5 - 6 minutes on each side for medium rare or use a grill pan.
- Let rest 5 minutes before slicing. Slice thinly against the grain of the steak.
Comments:
-
Our favorite cooked temperature for steak is 145 degrees. It has a
beautiful pink interior every time.
Tips:
- Prepare two of these meals at the same time, and before cooking...place one in the freezer for a meal at a later time.
