Teriyaki Marinated Flank Steak

1I have been making this recipe for close to 20 years now. The marinade is great on steak, London Broil and also I have made chicken skewers with it. It is a very versatile marinade.

Ingredients:

  • 1 to 1 1/2 lb flank steak or London Broil
  • 2 tbs sherry
  • 2 tbs soy sauce
  • 2 tbs vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 1 tbs honey
  • 1 tbs white sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt or kosher salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large resealable bag, adding flank steak last. Seal and turn to coat.
  2. Marinate in refrigerator at least four hours or overnight.
  3. Remove from refrigerator and bring to room temperature.
  4. Grill steak until a meat thermometer reads 145 degrees for medium rare or 160 for well done.
  5. Instead of grilling, you may also broil this for 5 - 6 minutes on each side for medium rare.
  6. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing. Slice thinly against the grain of the steak.

Comments:

-  Our favorite cooked temperature for steak is 145 degrees. It has a beautiful pink interior every time.

Tips:

-  Prepare two of these meals at the same time, and before cooking...place one in the freezer for a meal at a later time.
