Vidalia Onion Dip
Recipe Courtesy Katrinka Sloan
Anytime I take this appetizer to a pot luck, everyone always asks me for the recipe. Even people who do not like onions, like this dip. It is one of the first items to go at gatherings. Definitely a crowd pleaser!
Ingredients:
- 3 cups chopped sweet onions such as Vidalia onions
- 3 cups shredded Swiss cheese
- 2 cups mayonnaise or reduced mayonnaise
- few dashes of garlic salt
Directions:
- Combine all ingredients in large bowl.
- Place in a shallow casserole dish.
- Bake in 350 preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, until the top is a golden brown.
Comments:
- Serve with any of the following: Corn Chips, Ritz Crackers, Club Crackers, Triscuits, Wheat Thins, pita bread, crostini, etc.
- I have used reduced calorie mayonnaise and was still very good.
Tips:
- You can also prepare this the night before without baking, cover and place in the refrigerator, then pop it in the oven before serving.
